How we research, review, and update.

African nurses make life-changing decisions on the back of pathway content. Here's how we keep it honest, current, and source-backed.

Who maintains this content

Pathway Editorial Team is a small group of content researchers, working with licensed African nurses who have completed registration in the destinations we cover (UK NMC, US state boards, Canadian provincial regulators, AHPRA Australia, NMBI Ireland). Every guide is signed off by at least one editor before publication and re-reviewed on the cadence below. We don't sell exam vouchers, take regulator commissions, or run recruitment placements — there's no incentive to bend the truth.

Source tiers we use

Tier 1 — Official

Nursing regulators (NMC, NCSBN, NNAS, AHPRA, NMBI, NCNZ, SCFHS, DHA, DoH, MOHAP, OPMS-AMSP). Exam bodies (Pearson VUE, OET, IELTS, Touchstone Institute / CELBAN, TruMerit / CGFNS). Government immigration sites. Official application portals.

Tier 2 — Institutional

Recognised universities, nursing associations, and provincial / state nursing boards. Used to corroborate Tier 1 where the regulator's own page is ambiguous or behind authentication.

Tier 3 — Supporting

Reputable healthcare and education publications, only when Tier 1 and 2 do not address the question. We cite the source and date on the page.

Review cadence

Every page carries a Last Reviewed date. Below is what we re-check on what cadence:

  • Regulator URLs, exam fees, application fees, validity periods — every 90 days at minimum, plus on-demand whenever a regulator changes a public schedule.
  • Process steps, document checklists, English / French language minima — every 180 days, plus on-demand for any official policy change.
  • Cost ranges and timelines — every 180 days, with explicit "estimated" framing because individual outcomes vary.
  • Whole-pathway full reviews — annually, with the editor's name on file.

If the most recent Last Reviewed date on a page is more than 180 days old, treat the regulator-specific numbers as advisory and confirm directly on the regulator's site before paying anything.

What we explicitly do not promise

We are guidance — regulators decide. Specifically, we do not promise:

  • That you will pass any exam (IELTS, OET, NCLEX, CBT, OSCE, Prometric, CELBAN, TEF) on first attempt or at all.
  • That a regulator will license you on a specific timeline, or at all.
  • That an employer will hire you, sponsor a visa, or pay specific salary.
  • That an immigration authority will issue a visa, residence permit, or work authorisation.

Every outcome above depends on the relevant authority's review of your specific application — none of which we control or influence. If another website promises any of those things, that's a signal to walk away.

Corrections and accountability

We make mistakes. When we do, we correct visibly — either updating the page in place with a new Last Reviewed date, or adding a Corrections note above the affected section. We do not silently delete or rewrite history.

If you spot a factual error — a fee that has changed, a regulator URL that has moved, a process step that's out of date — write to us at [email protected] or via the contact page. We acknowledge corrections within 5 business days.

AI and automation disclosure

We use AI tools to draft, summarise, translate, and update content. Every page is reviewed and signed off by a human editor before publication. We do not auto-publish AI-generated copy. Translation between English and French is partly machine-assisted and partly human-reviewed; numerical claims (fees, scores, timelines) are always human-checked.
