The transcript that arrived in the wrong format
A paediatric nurse in Lagos spent 18 months building a UK pathway — IELTS booked, NMC profile open, employer in early conversation. Three days before her CBT she discovered her nursing-school transcript hadn't been sent in the regulator-accepted format. She paid £150 to re-sit a test she would have passed because no one had walked her through document order. The fix was a 10-minute conversation with someone who'd done it before.
The $2,200 agent who filed nothing
A Cameroonian RN paid an agent $2,200 USD for a 'Canadian relocation package.' Six months in, the agent had filed nothing. Her NNAS reference number had never been created. She rebuilt the entire application herself in three weeks once she had the regulator's actual checklist — but the money was gone, the year was gone, and her trust in anyone offering 'help' was gone with it.
The state board that changed its policy mid-application
A Ghanaian RN passed the NCLEX in California, then learned at licence-application time that the California Board of Registered Nursing had stopped accepting her nursing school's credential evaluation pathway twelve weeks before her test.
