NCLEX vs NMC CBT: which licensure exam should you target?

NCLEX-RN (USA) and NMC CBT (UK) are the two major English-speaking licensure exams. They test similar nursing knowledge but differ on format, scoring, cost, and what they unlock. Use this to align your prep with your destination β€” not the other way around.

Our recommendation

How to choose between NCLEX-RN and NMC CBT.

Pick NMC CBT if you want a faster route, lower upfront cost, and a higher first-time pass rate. Pick NCLEX-RN if you want the higher US RN salary and are willing to invest in 2–4 months of structured prep + visa wait. Many nurses do both over time β€” they are not mutually exclusive.
