IELTS offers a fully online proctored format (IELTS Online) that has expanded its country coverage steadily. As of writing, several African countries — including Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa — support IELTS Online for at-home delivery, subject to a tech check (webcam, stable upload, quiet private room).
The NMC currently accepts IELTS Online for English evidence. Some employers and other regulators may not — always check the destination's English-evidence page before booking.
The pricing is similar to in-centre IELTS Academic. The big advantage is scheduling: you can sit it at home if your tech setup passes the check 24 hours before your session.
If your home Wi-Fi is unstable, in-centre IELTS at British Council or IDP is still the safer choice.
